Dr. Desai studied at Mary Baldwin University in Staunton, Virginia, earning a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. She earned her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada and completed an internal medicine residency and fellowship at Penn State Health in Hershey.
Dr. Desai served a visiting rotation in gastroenterology at Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia, and studied at the Center for Esophageal Diseases & Swallowing at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. In 2021, Dr. Desai won Penn State Health’s Exceptional Performance Award (Department of Medicine).
In addition to her extensive training and broad-ranging clinical experience, Dr. Desai has given lectures and grand rounds and delivered presentations at professional conferences. She has also been a co-author of numerous academic research papers and textbook chapters in gastroenterology.
Motivated by her compassionate nature, Dr. Desai has served as a volunteer for several organizations in the United States and overseas, including Habitat for Humanity in Staunton, Virginia, and Global Medical Brigades. She is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterology Association.
