Dong Lee, MD, joined Gastroenterology Associates of Fredericksburg in August 2008. Dr. Lee is currently not accepting new patients, as he has recently scaled back his practice hours and will be seeing patients 2 days per week starting in August, 2024.
Dr. Lee is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and certified in gastroenterology. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in 1994 from the University of California at Berkeley, in California; and his Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York at Brooklyn in 1998, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Dr. Lee was the head of the gastroenterology clinic at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, which serves our nation’s military and elite elected officials. He also served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Instructor of Medicine for the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and was awarded the Prezemyslaw “Mac” Hirszel Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Captain Colleen Counihan Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching. He also earned numerous military awards, including the Army Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy/Marine Corp Achievement Medal, and various service ribbons, including the Fleet Marine Force Ribbon, National Defense Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Global War on Terrorism Ribbon.
Dr. Lee is proficient in the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures of colonoscopy, upper GI endoscopy, video capsule endoscopy, and high-resolution manometry.
Dr. Lee has been recognized as one of the region’s top gastroenterologists by Northern Virginia Magazine almost every year since 2012.
He enjoys spending time with his wife and twins during his free time.
